The 30-year-old comic adopted a retired Labrador named Zanjeer.
The dog, who earlier served Mumbai Police will now be in the comfort of the comedian's care.
Sharma put up a picture of him and the dog on Twitter for his followers.
"My new family member.. Zanjeer.. He served as a cop in Mumbai police. Respect. Will let you know about him later," Kapil tweeted.
Kapil adopted this dog from the animal welfare community, 'Animals Matter To Me (Mumbai)', and they seemed really impressed with Kapil for endorsing their objective. They took to Facebook to share their gratitude.
