Comic Con India announces costume play contest

Taking comic fandom a notch higher, Comic Con India in its latest initiative has announced a nation-wide contest, whose winner will represent India at Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo to be held later this year.
Cosplay is a practice where comic fans dress up as their favourite characters from the world of pop culture - comics, television, films or video games.
A first of its kind national championship of cosplay, the 'Indian Championships of Cosplay' seeks to encourage local cosplayers to go professional while providing them an international platform as well.
The event will see the best cosplayers from across the country battle it out. The grand prize winners of Cosplay contest of Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai Comic Cons 2015 are set to compete against each other, the nominations for which have been announced at comicconindia.Com/ICC, where fans can vote for their favourite contender.
India's best cosplayer will represent the country at the Annual Crown Championships of Cosplay at Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo.
"In addition to being the grand prize winners of our city-wise cosplay contests, the 10 finalists are in the running to become the national champion and represent India at our sister show, Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo 2016 (C2E2)," says Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India.

Once selected, the Indian champion qualifies directly into the championship round of crown championship of Cosplay at C2E2 2016 where he or she will challenge regional winners from US, Australia and Europe.
Fans can find a pitch from each finalist on the website, in the form of images, videos and write ups about the participants after which they can make their pick.
Voting for the competition closes on January 24 and the winner is set to be announced on January 26 on the website and all social media pages of Comic Con India.
