Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha today said competition was a key "catalyst for change" which benefitted consumers and businesses in India by driving user choices, improving quality and lowering prices.
Speaking at the annual conference of International Competition Network, Sinha cited a slew of pro-competition measures initiated by the government across various sectors to underscore its positive impact on the overall economy and global rankings in ease of doing business.
"Solar and wind power prices are at record low levels because of competition...We have liberalised spectrum usage policies...mergers and acquisitions in telecom sector are in tune with needs of the market", Sinha said.
Competition, he said, not only drives innovation but leads consumer empowerment by way of more choices, better quality (of products and services) and low prices.
