Fair trade watchdog CCI has rejected K Sera Sera Digital Cinema's allegations that a host of companies, including Walt Disney Company, Fox Star Studios and Warner Bros, indulged in anti-competitive practices in the digital cinema exhibition market.
The complaint was filed against US-based Digital Cinema Initiatives, The Walt Disney Company India, Fox Star Studios, NBC Universal Media Distribution Services, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros and Paramount Films India.
As per Competition Commission of India's (CCI) order, Digital Cinema Initiatives is alleged to be a joint venture of the rest of the companies. It was alleged that Digital Cinema has been formed with an object to dominate and monopolise the market of digital cinema exhibition in India and elsewhere.
After finding there is no "prima-facie" evidence of competition norm violations, CCI rejected K Sera Sera's complaint.
"The informant (K Sera Sera) has not been able to show that the alleged conduct is likely to have appreciable adverse effect on the competition," the order, dated April 22, said.
