Delhi Police have lodged a complaint against a constable today charging him with corruption after they received a complaint on WhatsApp of Vigilance Helpline Number.
According to a senior police official, the complainant had forwarded a video recording on WhatsApp of Vigilance Helpline No 9910641064, recorded by him on various dates in October 2014 coinciding with celebration of Diwali festival.
"The complainant stated that constable Chunni Lal of police station South Campus demanded Rs 20,000 cash and crackers from complainant for allowing him to sell crackers. Despite the fact that the complainant had a valid licence to sell crackers, the constable threatened to implicate him in a false case of selling spurious crackers," said a senior police official.
The recording allegedly contained conversations between the complainant and constable and purportedly showed the constable taking away crackers without making payment.
A complaint was registered under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
