Addressing a meeting to review progress of the project, Yadav said there should be regular monitoring of progress and the work should be completed on priority by October 2016.
"Through IT city, IT based industries would be encouraged and employment opportunities will be generated for the youths. Development of any state is not possible without IT," he said.
The Chief Minister said that at a meeting with the Centre on August 27, it was decided to give status of special economic zone to the IT city.
The Uttar Pradesh government had signed an MoU with the investment arm of the HCL in June this year to set up a 100-acre Information Technology city in Lucknow on Sultanpur road.
It is expected to create job opportunities for 25,000 people and provide indirect employment for additional 50,000.
