The department has already finished the task in 16 states and work in 11 other states is progressing, to be completed by the end of this year, NCD Director, Sabhi Halan, told reporters here today.
Tamil Nadu has been allotted Rs 103 crores for this purpose, he said, adding that all police stations in the state's Thiruvallur district have been computerised.
Once all stations in the country are brought under the computer network, they will be interlinked, and also be connected with Interpol.
This will help detect and trace international and inter-state criminals and also solve cases easily, Halan said.
