"There is a paradigm shift from this principle (to prevent concentration of resources in the hands of a few) and our resources are being auctioned rather than being utilised.
"Earlier, the natural resources were mobilised for self-reliance but now the government is working for 'self' and 'reliance'," Salim said during a conference on 'Public Policy and Administration: Issues and Concerns' here.
The conference was organised by the Nagpur University's Department of Public Administration at Guru Nanak Bhavan.
"The Planning Commission, which was formed to frame policies, was abolished and NITI Aayog was set up. However, there is no place for discussions and debate while finalising a government policy, and this is a great challenge to the public policy," Salim said.
He alleged that when an intellectual or a member of the civil society questions the government's policies they are labelled as anti-nationals.
