Concern over proliferation of private nursing homes in various parts of the country and their malpractices to fleece gullible people was expressed by a BJP member in the Lok Sabha today.
Mahendra Nath Pandey wanted the government to check the mushrooming of such nursing homes and regulate their working, saying many of them even kept bodies of patients on ventilator even after their death to charge hefty fees from their hapless relatives.
"They put patients on ventilators with or without any reason to charge hefty fees. Even after a patient dies, they continue to tell the relatives that treatment was on and charge hefty amounts," Pandey said during Zero Hour.
He asked the government to put an end to this "menace" by creating a mechanism to regulate private nursing homes.
Rahul Shivale (Shiv Sena) sought permission from Civil Aviation Ministry to allow construction of 18-storeyed buildings as against 12-storey plan at present as part of redevelopment of Mumbai's Dharavi slums, the largest hutment colony of Asia, located near the airport.
Dushyant Chautala (INLD) criticised the government for hiking excise duty on diesel saying it was an "anti-farmer" measure and sought its roll back and more subsidy on unbranded diesel to help the farmers.
