A 24-year-old bus conductor was crushed to death after another bus rammed into the victim's vehicle inside the Kushak Nallah bus depot in South Delhi's Lodhi Colony area, the police said today.
It said that the deceased has been identified as Mohammed Tariq Ali who was employed as a conductor of an orange cluster three year ago.
The police said that errant driver, identified as Santosh, managed to flee from the spot and hunt was on to nab him.
"The incident occurred at around 7.25 AM today when victim Tariq was preparing to leave for his route and his driver asked him to adjust the rear mirror," the police said.
It said that when Tariq was adjusting the mirror, suddenly a speeding cluster bus driven by Santosh rammed in such a way that Tariq was sandwiched between the two buses.
"After receiving the PCR call, police reached at the spot and the victim was taken to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors," it said.
The police said that a case under section 304-A (causing death by rash or negligent act) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC has been registered at the Lodhi Colony police station and both the buses have been impounded.
It said that they are questioning the staff of the bus depot to ascertain whether Santosh was driving the bus under the influence of alcohol.
