Conflicting news about the death of 6 Egyptian soldiers and injury to 12 others in a missile attack in restive North Sinai has stirred a row with an army source denying the reports even as a Gaza-based newspaper claimed that the projectile came from the Israeli military.
An anonymous source told Gaza-based newspaper "Filasteen Alan" (Palestine Now) that Israeli troops fired the projectile, but he didn't mention if the attack happened within Gaza, the Sinai, or Israel.
The army source, however, said the news about the death of 6 soldiers near border town of Rafah in volatile North Sinai was not true, Al-Shorouq newspaper reported.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued again yesterday a statement denouncing Israel's continued targeting of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, an Israeli delegation left Cairo after a short visit that lasted for a few hours to meet with Egyptian security officials and discuss reaching a cease-fire agreement between Hamas and Israel, official sources told youm7.
