Cong attempting to politicise issue of national security: BJP

Attacking Congress for its demand to convene a special session of Parliament to declare Pakistan a terrorist state, BJP today said it's merely a propaganda tactic of the opposition party and an attempt to politicise the issue of national security.
The ruling party said the Congress' decision to go to media with its demand shows it's not serious and added that it should have gone to the Lok Sabha Speaker if it was sincere.
"If Congress is serious about it, then the right thing would have been to go to the Speaker. Rather they have gone to the media to politicise the issue of national interest and for propaganda. It shows their non-serious attitude," BJP's National Secretary Sidharth Nath Singh said.

With the government contemplating its options against Pakistan following the Uri attack that left 18 soldiers dead, Singh said it is working to address the issue of cross-border terrorism and the response will be robust.
"The government is looking at diplomatic, economic and military options and in that ambit it will consider all options and take appropriate step. It is not for us to comment but to stand with the government when it takes a decision," he told reporters here.
Reacting to Congress' jibe that the 'Most Favoured Nation' status given to Pakistan, which is being reviewed, is a "dead letter", he said the "dead UPA government" sat over the so- called dead letter for years.

He also attacked Congress for its alleged inaction following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
He asked Congress and other parties to stand with the government, saying moments come in the history of every country when entire nation needs to stand together.
"Such a moment has arrived for India when all people should stand together," he said.
