Asking Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to "step down" on moral grounds in the wake of Orissa High Court verdict in the Prakash Mishra vigilance case, opposition Congress and BJP today allowed to continue proceedings of the Assembly in its post lunch session.
"Our demand on the resignation of the chief minister continues. However, we have decided to participate in the proceeding of the House this afternoon in view of certain important Bills," Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra of Congress said.
The House assembled for the post lunch session after remaining adjourned till 3 pm due to pandemonium over Chief Minister's resignation demand.
The Congress, since yesterday, have been demanding a discussion on the matter relating to the High Court verdict in Prakash Mishra case where the state and its chief minister have been indicted.
However, Speaker Niranjan Pujari did not allow discussion
on the matter stating that the issue was not of Urgent Public Interest.

Angry over the Speaker's denial of permission for a discussion on the matter, the Congress members did not allow to transact business in the House yesterday and in the first half of today.
Justifying his party's demand for the chief minister's resignation, Mishra said the corruption case against senior IPS officer Prakash Mishra, now working as the DG, CRPF, was registered by the State Vigilance department headed by chief minister himself.
Patnaik had ordered for initiating legal action against
Mishra. The High Court in its judgement has said that the case against Mishra was "malafide".
Maintaining that the charges were framed against Mishra in
"undue Haste", Mishra said, "Mishra was humiliated as he did not dance to the tune of the chief minister. Therefore, the issue is a fit case to be considered as a case of Urgent Public Interest."
The Congress veteran said that Mishra did not obey the chief minister during the 2014 elections to help BJD in "purchase" of votes.
Ruling BJD member Amar Prasad Satpathy said, "The matter
concerning one person and one case should not be discussed in the House as per the existing provision. Therefore, Speaker rejected the adjournment notice moved by the Congress."
Earlier in the pre-lunch session, the house was adjourned till 3 PM following an uproar by the Opposition Congress and BJP members. As soon as the House assembled, Speaker Niranjan Pujari directed the commencement of question hour session.
Protesting the Speaker's denial of permission for a discussion on Prakash Mishra case, the Congress members rushed to the well of the House waving banners and placards with slogans against the government written on them.
Unable to run the House, the Speaker adjourned the House till 3 PM.
