Cong, BJP and INLD bags majority in Panjab University polls

Panjab University Students' Council (PUSC) elections today saw the students' wing of Congress, BJP and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) romping home majority seats, ending the long dominance of PUSU and SUPU in the council.
NSUI's (Congress) Chandan Rana from Biophysics department was elected president of the council drubbing Students' Union of Panjab University's (SOPU) Amandeep Singh of the Law department.
The vice-president post went to ABVP's (BJP) Disha Arora of English department who defeated SOPU's Akanksha Sood of the Chemistry department.
The post of secretary went to INSO's (INLD) Abha Sharma of Public Health department who defeated SOPU's Akash Deep Vohra.
NSUI's Sunny Mehta of Social Work department won the joint secretary post, defeating Panjab University Students' Union's (PUSU) Dimple Garg of Defence Studies department.
After dominating PUSC elections for decades, neither PUSU nor SOPU managed to win any posts as council office bearers.
Both SOPU and PUSU leaders alleged of anomalies in the voting process as reason behind their defeat.
