Delhi Congress today held the BJP responsible for the situation that the e-rickshaw drivers were facing following a ban by Delhi High Court on the vehicle.
They also demanded that Centre should immediately issue an Ordinance to ensure that e-rickshaw were not taken off the roads.
"Central Government, taking into consideration the safety and security of the people of Delhi, should immediately issue an Ordinance to ensure that e-rickshaws were not taken off the roads," said DPCC chief Arvinder Singh said.
He said Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had got himself a big applause when he promised that the e-rickshaw drivers would not be rendered jobless, and the BJP had even put up posters all over Delhi taking credit for it.
"But the truth was AAP and the BJP were against the e-rickshaws. If the e-rickshaw drivers were rendered jobless, over 10 lakh people in Delhi would be pushed to the brink of poverty," DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said.
Slamming AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal's meeting with autorickshaw drivers, Sharma termed it as his another "natak" and said most of the autorickshaw drivers have distanced themselves from Kejriwal's auto rickshaw drivers' rally.
Sharma said that a high level delegation of Delhi Congress leaders would meet the Lt Governor Najeeb Jung tomorrow to press for the demand to bring an ordinance to provide relief to e-rickshaw drivers.
