Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Anjan Dutta said that All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) was spreading rumours that an alliance has been formed between the two parties to gain votes in the name of Congress' goodwill.
"We will contest in all 126 seats. As of today, we will get majority by winning over 70 seats. So there is no question of forming any alliance with any party and we will contest the polls on our own," Dutta said at a press conference here.
"It has become sure that AIUDF will not get even eight seats in the upcoming elections. So its chief Badruddin Ajmal is spreading lies about the alliance and want to gain votes in the name of Congress. They want to leverage on our goodwill," Dutta said.
Asked about any possibility of post-poll alliance, he said, "We do not need it".
