Cong demands compensation for cloudburst victims of Valley

Congress today demanded immediate compensation for the people who have lost their crops and livestock due to recent rains and cloudburst in several parts of Kashmir.
J-K Pradesh Congress Committee president Ghulam Ahmed Mir today expressed concern over the loss to the livestock and other property due to the recent rains and cloudburst in several parts of Kashmir Valley in past couple of days.
In a statement, issue here today, Mir urged the state government to take immediate measures to assess the loss and provide adequate relief and compensation to the people.
He expressed solidarity with people in Omoh area near Verinag in south Kashmir, where they reportedly lost more than 350 goats, sheep and other livestocks.
Expressing sympathies with the people, PCC Chief urged the government to immediately assess the loss and provide adequate relief and compensation to the affected people.
"Because of rains, there has been extensive damage to water and power supply in some parts like in upper areas of Verinag. Authorities must take immediate steps for restoration of supply system keeping in view the ongoing period of Ramzan," he said.
