Cong demands probe into death of Sikh youth in police firing
Press Trust of India Jammu Jammu and Kashmir Congress today demanded a high level probe into the death of a Sikh youth and injuries to several others in a clash between police and minority community over removal of poster of Bhinderanwala here.
"Congress has demanded high level probe into the incident to fix responsibility for the the death of a youth and injuries to several others during the clash between police and minority community in Jammu," JK Congress spokesman said here today.
He said Congress has expressed serious concerns over the situation and senior party leaders have conveyed their sympathies to the bereaved family members.
JKPCC leaders, which include JKPCC senior vice president Sham Lal Sharma, former Ministers Mula Ram and Raman Bhalla, said that the incident and the situation which has emerged was the result of mishandling by the state government and administration, as this could have been averted by the timely and proper handling of the matter.
The leaders also demanded adequate compensation to the bereaved family and those injured, and appealed to maintain peace and harmony.
