"JKPCC demand the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Minister for Forest Bali Bhagat and others who were party to the written commitment, representing the government and BJP, as they failed to fulfil the commitment regarding the setting up of AIIMS in Jammu, within the deadline of July 20," a Congress spokesman said here today.
Congress described this failure to fulfil the commitment by the BJP government as the "worst ever act of betrayal" with the people of Jammu region, adding that, this would go down in the history in 'black letters'.
The situation demands that those who are signatories and party to it should resign from the respective positions and seek a public apology, the spokesman added.
"These persons have eroded the sanctity and the authority of the institutions and positions being held by them and brought insult to the highest institutions of democracy in the state. They have mislead the people and tried to weaken the movement by their tactics" he said.
