Claiming that about five lakh girls in Rajasthan have been deprived of their right to nutrition since BJP came to power, state Congress chief Sachin Pilot today accused the Vasundhara Raje government of bringing an abrupt stop to Rajiv Gandhi Kishori Balika Shasktikaran Yojna in the state and demanded that it be restarted.
"UPA government had started Rajiv Gandhi Kishori Balika Shashktikaran Yojna in 200 districts including ten districts of Rajasthan wherein girls in the age group of 11 and 18 were given nutrition but the Raje government had stopped it without any notice in March this year," he said in a statement here.
About five lakh girls in the said age group were being benefited in 144 blocks of 10 districts due to the scheme, Pilot added.
Taking a dig at the BJP government over its slogan 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao', Pilot asked how can girls be saved in Rajasthan when most of them are anaemic.
"The Vasundhara Raje government's 'poshahar yojna', launched in Aanganbari Kendra, is insufficient and showed disparity and partiality among kids," he alleged.
