"One should desist from making political comments in religious functions. Politicisation of religious functions is also not proper in any way", senior Congress leader Mohan Prakash said today.
Prakash's remarks are significant as he is in charge of party affairs in Maharashtra and Gujarat and was asked by the high command to examine the facts in the case.
Darda, a Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra, had described Modi as a "lion" while praising his style of functioning at a award ceremony in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
"Modi's commitment and dedication towards work bears resemblance to that of a lion," Darda had said.
Modi had used the occasion to take a dig at Congress saying Darda may have to pay a price for his comments.
Replying to questions from reporters, Prakash, however, said he was out of station and had not met Darda, who is also the Editor-in-Chief of a media group, so far.
At the function, Ramdev had given a clean chit to Modi on the issue of corruption saying "everybody is asking me about corruption in Gujarat but I couldn't find anything of this sort. Modi is not doing anything wrong."
