Congress today expressed concern over report of death of 17 children due to 'malnutrition' in the tribal-dominated Mohada tenshil of Palghar district of Maharashtra since July last.
Expressing concern over reports to that effect, AICC Spokesman Dr. Ajoy Kumar, who was accompanied by the JPCC President Sukhdeo Bhagat, MLA, former Ministers Sarfraj Ahmed and Dulal Bhuiyan, said the Union government was not bothered about the prevailing conditions of tribal and dalit community in the country.
For the first time in the country, the Union government did not spend Rs. 35,000 crore meant for the welfare of the tribal and dalits in the country, Kumar told a press conference here.
Flaying Prime Minister Naredra Modi-led government, the AICC spokesman said the government miserably failed to deliver on all fronts owing to Modi's "selfie-centric and self-promotion policy".
He further alleged the Jharkhand government was now hell bent on grabbing tribal land in Jharkhand by bringing about an amendment in decades-old Chhotanagpur and Santal Paragana Tenancy Acts framed to project the interest of the tribal community.
This was aimed at pleasing the corporate and big industrial houses, who had spent Rs.15,000 crore on advertisement in the run up to the state assembly poll last, he said.
