Congress will field Sanatan Mukherjee for the June 2 Howrah Lok Sabha by-poll in West Bengal.
AICC general secretary Oscar Fernanes today announced Mukherjee's name as its candidate for the seat, which has fallen vacant following the death of Trinamool MP Ambica Banerjee in April 25.
The Left Front has nominated CPI(M) leader Sridip Bhattacharya as its candidate for the bypoll.
Trinamool Congress has already announced former India football captain Prasun Banerjee as its candidate in the by-election.
