Leader of the Opposition Ajay Singh alleged that the state government had spent crores of rupees on the 'Teerth Darshan Programme' and Chouhan has managed to get publicity out of it, but it was not being run properly.

Referring to the incident on January 30 reported by the local media, Singh said those selected for the tour were asked to come to Shivpuri Railway Station a day before their journey but were put up in a lodge where no food was served nor were they provided blankets inspite of the cold.

Some of the pilgrims left the tour and were not seen later, he also said while demanding that the government take strong action against the officers responsible for the incident.

Under the programme launched in association with the Railways in August last year, senior citizens would be helped to undertake pilgrimage with the state footing the bill. The government has planned to take about 60,000 senior citizens on pilgrimage this year.
