In a letter to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, senior vice president of Pradesh Congress Suryakant Dhasmana said the helicopter companies were charging Rs 9,000 to Rs 14,000 for ferrying pilgrims to Kedarnath instead of the official fare of Rs 7,000.
Terming it as an injustice against pilgrims, the Congress leader who also heads the party's policy planning committee said the chief minister must do something to stop this.
Criticising the state government for delaying the matter, he said it was hard to understand the government's inaction despite a section of local media reporting about the high handed manner in which the chopper companies were "looting" passengers on the pilgrimage route.
He urged the chief minister to entrust the minister in- charge of the concerned department with reviewing the situation and improve things in favour of Chardham yatris.
