Going into poll mode, the Congress today asked party workers to fight forces inimical to communal peace and amity in order to retain all the five Lok Sabha seats in upcoming elections in Uttarakhand.
A political resolution adopted at a meeting of the PCC's executive committee here said forces inimical to communal amity and peace are out to grab power at the Centre by twisting the history of freedom movement heroes who fought the British under the auspices of the Congress.
"We have to put up a dour fight against these forces and ensure that the party under the leadership of Chief Minister Harish Rawat will repeat its performance of 2009 when it emerged triumphant in all the five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand," the resolution said.
The meeting convened to work out party's strategy for coming Lok Sabha polls was chaired by PCC chief Yashpal Arya in the presence of AICC General Secretary and in charge of party's affairs in Uttarakhand Ambika Soni.
The political resolution, presented by PCC vice president Suryakant Dhasmana, also spoke of the unimaginable damage caused to 35000 sq km area in Uttarakhand by the 2013 naturanl calamity.
The Centre gave a package of Rs 7500 crore for reconstruction work in the wake of the catastrophic flashfloods in the hill state.
The money received from the Centre is already being used for reconstruction and rehabilitation exercise and the results will soon be visible, the resolution said.
Extolling ten years of UPA rule for introduction of RTI, MNREGA, Food Security and Lokpal Acts, the resolution said these are historic steps which will lead to a major change in the quality of life of the common man across the country.
