"UPA government has added to common man's woes by increasing petrol, diesel prices, capping use of LPG cylinders and introducing FDI in retail," BJP leader B C Khanduri told reporters here.

He charged the government with supporting corruption instead of taking concerted efforts to remove it.

"Central government has not only failed to remove corruption, but is actively supporting it," the former chief minister alleged.

He also attacked the Congress government in the state, saying it was creating hurdles in implementing policies introduced by the BJP for transparency in governance.

On the other hand, state's finance minister Indira Hridayesh said the Congress government had launched several initiatives to boost health, education and infrastructure in Uttarakhand.

In the current fiscal, Rs 2,669 crore has been sanctioned for the development works till August 31, which is Rs 313 crore more than Rs 2,356 allocated in the same period previous year, she said.
