State unit party chief Gulam Ahmed Mir claimed there was an increase of 1,000 times in ceasefire violations under the NDA government as compared to the UPA government.
He said in the last one week the border villagers had seen a virtually war-like situation in which 13 people were killed and over 70 injured. Two hundred buildings were damaged and over 150 animals killed in the period as well.
He claimed that the most civilian killings were witnessed in such a short period.
Taking a dig at the BJP over its alleged failure to save people from the shelling and firing by Pakistan, Mir said they were watching the death and devastation silently.
He said Congress president Rahul Gandhi, after expressing concern over the situation, had rushed a party panel led by senior leaders Gulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni to the affected areas along the border.
