The incident occurred this afternoon. Former block president Om Prakash Singh (50) and his friend Hari Singh (48) were killed on the spot, while four others, including another Congress leader Ashok Singh, were injured, Circle Officer, Amethi, R K Chaturvedi said.
They were on their way to Gauriganj district headquarters, the CO said.
Party vice-president Rahul Gandhi has expressed grief over the incident, his representative in the constituency Chandrakant Dubey said.
