In another tweet, he said,"after winning mainland, BJP is now even winning islands... Congratulations to BJP Workers." BJP has won 11 of the 24 seats in the elections to the island's local body and is set to replace Congress as the main ruling formation.
Hailing the party's victory, BJP chief Amit Shah has said that its wins in a series of municipal polls underlined people's endorsement of the Modi government's development agenda and "rejection" of Congress' "negative" politics.
