Cong MLA surrenders before court, sent to jail

A Congress MLA accused of instigating violence and obstructing government work today surrendered before a local court which sent him to jail.
Congress MLA from Tioli assembly segment Mohd Muslim surrenedered in the court from where he was sent to jail. His bail application would be heard tomorrow, government counsel Harikesh Mishra said.
He said that communal tension had erupted in Chilauli village in Tiloi area in the year 2000 after a religious place was demolished.
On the complaint of then Station House Officer Dinesh Chandra Mishra, an FIR was lodged against the MLA for flaring communal passion and obstructing government work.
Mishra said that a charge sheet was filed in 2001 but even after repeated summons and warrant, the MLA failed to appeare before the court.
