NCP spokesman Madan Bafna said the state unit president Madhukar Pichad will meet his Congress counterpart Manikrao Thakre to discuss if an alliance can be worked out.
The two leaders will come on the discussion table after months of stand-off between the two coalition partners on the issues like elections to president and vice-president to zilla parishads.
The coalition partners in ruling dispensation also bickered over the post of the leader of opposition in Thane municipal corporation, besides Congress taking help of Shiv Sena in getting its candidate elected as mayor of Chandrapur.
Bafna further said the two leaders would discuss the political situation in the constituencies where the legislative council polls will be held and take a call on the seat adjustments.
NCP holds local bodies of Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg and Nashik whereas Congress the Osmanabad-Beed-latur and Parbhani-Hingoli. BJP controls Amravati local bodies while the Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli local bodies seat is held by an independent.
The terms of the sitting MLCs in these constituencies expire on June 21 except Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg whose term ends on May 31.
