Congress is expected to tomorrow finalise its strategy forward in Parliament even as the party stepped up its attack on the Narendra Modi government after charging that it had done a "somersault" on several poll promises.
Congress chief Sonia Gandhi will chair a meeting of the party's Parliamentary Affairs Committee tomorrow with the meeting set to discuss floor coordination. There are indications that Congress, Samajwadi Party, Janata Dal (United) and Rashtriya Janata Dal will work in both Houses under an understanding to corner the government.
Opposition parties led by Congress and SP forced two adjournments in Rajya Sabha in the pre-noon session today after they created an uproar over a sharp dip in the government's procurement price for paddy and cotton, claiming it had pushed distressed farmers to the brink of suicide.
Reminding of Prime Minister Modi's poll promise of giving farmers a price that is 50 per cent more than the cost of production, the protesting MPs trooped into the Well of the House seeking a response from the government.
Dubbing the Modi government as a "U-turn sarkar", Congress today released a booklet projecting it as a "farce" in the name of government even as it accused it of making "umpteen somersaults" on a range of promises.
