BJP today charged Congress with disrupting Parliament over non-issues and said such a practice would not help the opposition party but further harm its image.
The ruling party said the Congress is yet to realise that it is now in the opposition and continues to be in the "hangover" of its defeat.
"The Congress-led opposition is raising unnecessary and non-issues only to disturb the House proceedings for their own political reasons. Congress is still in the hangover of its defeat and is raising these unnecessary issues," BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
The BJP leader said after the ruling of Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari on the issue of debate over Gaza situation, the Congress is trying to disturb the House proceedings for their own political reasons, but this practice will not help it.
"It should instead do some introspection, otherwise it will lose its image further," he said.
Naqvi, who has recently been appointed the spokesperson of BJP Parliamentary Party, said Congress is not allowing the Question Hour to be taken up where important issues of public importance like the attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen and Indians stranded in Iraq were to be discussed.
The opposition led by the Congress continued to disrupt proceedings in the Rajya Sabha for the second consecutive day today while seeking to corner the government by asking for a debate on the Gaza violence, which the government is opposing.
