Party spokesperson Manish Tewari said, "Rejecting India's contention as insinuation is by no stretch of imagination a constructive approach that can broaden and deepen Indo-Pak relations."

He said that the best confidence building measure will be in taking "concrete and absolute action" against the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror strikes.

"There is a heaven and hell difference between an insinuation and averment based on evidence. Our averments on the 26/11 strikes are based on evidence. Rejecting it by simply talking about joint probe will not help achieve better relations (between the two countries)," he said.

Tewari's comments were in response to questions on the remarks of Pakistan Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani during a joint press interaction with Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai in New Delhi.

Asked about Home Minister P Chidambaram's statement that arrested LeT terrorist Abu Jundal has revealed that Pakistan state actors were involved in the Mumbai attacks, Jilani said, "I would very strongly reject any insinuation of any involvement of any state agency in any acts of terrorism in India."

However, on Jundal's revelations that Pakistan was involved in Mumbai carnage which killed 166 people, Jilani said he assured Mathai that whatever evidence India has should be shared with Pakistan and it will investigate the matter.

Pakistan is even willing to offer "a joint investigation" in the whole affair, Jilani said.
