Party spokesperson Salman Khurshid said Congress has no issue with the Prime Minister addressing the students across the country but felt the ocassion could have been utilised to make the day more substantive for teachers.
Congratulating teachers and students on the Teacher's Day, he said the occasion needed to be used "more substantially" and not as an opprtunity to "project".
"I don't think the cause of the teachers has been adequately addressed. There are teachers who are in very very difficult situation. It could have been a susbtantive moment to reach out to the teachers substantially and announce something for them," he said.
"He has only said this to chidlren...," Khurshid said suggesting that who knows what has fate in store, five years or five months down the line".
