Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, Ajay Singh, said 40,000 families living in villages in Harda, Khandwa and Omkareshwar area are agitating against inadequate compensation given to them, but the government has remained insensitive towards their demands.
The state government's stand that rehabilitation was complete and an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court to that effect got exposed with the ongoing protest in the region, he said.
Ajay alleged that without completing rehabilitation and related issues, the state government has allowed water level in the two dams to go up leading to hardship for the people.
He also alleged that large scale irregularities have taken place in the disbursement of compensation.
