Congress today lashed out at the Arvind Kejriwal government saying it had failed to address the issues of power and water shortage in Delhi and also accused the ruling AAP of not delivering on its pre-poll promises.
The party also slammed the BJP-led central government and the ruling AAP in Delhi as it alleged that neither dispensation had been able to check the "spiralling prices of essential commodities".
According to a Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) release, the party's city unit president Ajay Maken said at a rally in Narela that "the Kejriwal government has totally failed to address the power and water shortage in Delhi as it has not worked out any summer action plan for the same".
Maken further alleged that Kejriwal has not only "failed to fulfil his election promise of giving power at 50 per cent concessional rate and water free of cost but has also not addressed the severe power and water shortage in summer".
Raising the issue of price rise, the former Union minister said that common people were suffering the most due to it.
"The AAP government and the BJP-led central government have totally failed in checking the spiralling prices of essential commodities and, as a consequence, the common people are eking out extremely difficult lives," Maken said.
He claimed that BJP and AAP were fighting among themselves "to maintain their political turf and to score political points" and were not bothered about the problems faced by the public.
"He (Maken) said the MCD employees have not been paid their wages and the poor people have been waiting for the disbursement of their pensions, which have been stopped for the past many months," the release added.
