It said BJP was raising the issue of rapes in Uttar Pradesh but was silent on crime against women in party-ruled Madhya Pradesh.
"As per official records, there are about 12 cases of crime against women registered everyday in Madhya Pradesh but there are many more that are not registered," All India Congress Mahila Morcha President Shobha Oza said during a media briefing at the AICC headquarters here.
She said this in connection with the alleged gangrape of a 30-year-old tribal by at least six persons, including her estranged husband, in a village in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district.
"No BJP leader or state minister made any statement and no one expressed shock or sadness...Women are unsafe in Madhya Pradesh and there is no law and order there," Oza, who belongs to the state, said.

"They (BJP leaders) talk about dismissing the government when rape happens in UP but when it happens in Madhya Pradesh, they are silent," she said.
"UP and MP are not different from each other. The situation is the same. You (BJP) should raise voice against crime against women in Uttar Pradesh and also against issues in Madhya Pradesh," Oza said.
The state's Home Minister Babulal Gaur had last week described rape as a social crime which which depends on the man and the woman. "It is sometimes right and sometimes wrong," he had said.
As per National Crime Records Bureau, Madhya Pradesh tops the list of reported number of rape cases. The state had registered 3,425 such incidents in 2012.
