Congress students' wing, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has won six out of eight seats in the Gujarat University elections, while the BJP's student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) managed to win two seats, the Vice-Chancellor said here today.
"Results of all the ten seats have been declared. NSUI has won six seats and ABVP has managed to get two seats in the students' senate elections," Gujarat University Vice-Chancellor M N Patel said.
The ABVP won over two seats which NSUI candidates did not contest. With this, the ABVP's tally has reached four seats, Patel said.
"ABVP's successful candidates include Nisarg Vyas from post graduate (Science) and and Miraj Chaudhari from under graduate (Commerce)," he said.
"Students showed their faith in the Congress students' wing NSUI. This shows that the youth are not impressed with BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's claims," NSUI state president Dhanrajsinh Vaghela said.
