Delhi Congress, which provides outside support to the AAP government, today came down hard on it alleging inaction in the Danish woman gangrape case.
"I find it hard to believe that it is the same party which had in the past expressed its concern and sympathy over the rape cases of the 23-year-old paramedical student and the 5-year-old girl. AAP earlier did not even wait for a day and protested outside hospitals.
"But now they are showing inaction. The Chief Minister of the same party today goes on to say that he will conduct a study on why such incidents are taking place," Delhi Pradesh Committee President Arvinder Singh Lovely told reporters here.
The party also held a demonstration at Delhi Secretariat which was led by Lovely. Scores of Congress workers including youth and women marched to the Delhi Secretariat raising slogans and carrying placards.
"There cannot be an excuse for the AAP to say that they'll look into the rape issue the next week. Why can't they take out time for an issue as serious as rape right now," said Lovely.
He also criticised Women and Child Development Minister Rakhi Birla.

"It is a matter of grave concern for the state when the Woman and Child Development minister on being asked about her opinion on the case says that she will consult the Chief Minister first and then say what needs to be done," he said.
The DPCC chief said the party will write to the Chief Minister and Home Minister to direct the police officials to take strict action against the culprits in the case. He said they will also write to the Lieutenant Governor about the incident.
"The government should make this case a priority and take appropriate action against the culprits," he said.
Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader in the Delhi assembly Haroon Yusuf targeted Kejriwal saying it is a matter of great shame that the incident took place in the constituency of the Chief Minister and another minister disclosed the name of the rape victim.
"One of the AAP ministers goes for a raid. They are doing the work they are not supposed to do and are neglecting the work they are supposed to do in the process," said Lovely.
