The Congress in Gujarat will burn effigies of demon king Ravan in various districts on the occasion of Dussehra on October 18 to "awaken" the BJP government, which it said has grown "insensitive" towards the people.
Equating the "problems" being faced by the people with ten heads of the demon king, state Congress chief Amit Chavda held the BJP responsible for them.
"The BJP is insensitive towards the people. Many problems have surfaced under the BJP rule. The Congress will burn effigies of Ravana in all district and taluka centres in Gujarat to awaken the ruling party," he told reporters.
He alleged that farmers are not getting reasonable price for their crops and are not paid crop insurance claims.
"There is no water for irrigation. Farmers are committing suicide," Chavda claimed.
He alleged that the state government is looking the other way at a time when inflation is rising due to spurt in the prices of petrol and diesel.
The Congress leader also alleged that education and healthcare have become unaffordable in the state.
