The Congress will form booth-level committees in the national capital by this month-end to strengthen the organisation and galvanise the cadre ahead of next year's parliamentary election, party Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken said today.
Under the "Shakti Project", launched by Congress president Rahul Gandhi, the Delhi unit has enlisted 42,000 party members at almost 8,000 booths out of 13,500 across the national capital, Maken said.
In a meeting of newly appointed presidents of district and block units today, Maken said the booth presidents will be appointed by August 10. All the booth committees having 20 office-bearers each are to be formed by August 30.
Programmes for the district and block committees to strengthen the party further at the grass-roots level were discussed at the meeting.
"Organisation of Delhi unit is to be strengthened up to booth level with committed Congress workers so that the programmes and policies of the party are promptly conveyed to the people at their doorsteps."
