Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'chai pe charcha', the Congress will hold a 'chai ki charcha' here tomorrow to attack the central government and highlight the woes of farmers, including their concern over the Land Bill.
The event would coincide with the first anniversary of Modi's pre-poll exercise when he made several tall promises to farmers, to which the Government headed by him had given little attention after coming to power, Congress leader Shivajirao Moghe claimed.
Farmers and representatives from different states would attend the programme.
"Farmers of the country at the time had trusted the words of Modi and voted him to power. But Modi betrayed the farmers and ignored his assurances such as support price to farm produce calculated on the basis of input cost plus 50 per cent profit," Moghe said.
Modi had also made other promises like low interest loans by public sector banks and bringing about an agricultural revolution, he said.
During their convergence, the farmers would air their concerns on issues like the land acquisition bill, he said.
The meet would then adopt a resolution condemning the betrayal of farmers to be submitted to the Government, he said.
AICC General Secretary from Madhya Pradesh, Bala Bachhen, former Andra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Ramchandra Reddy and other leaders would address the farmers, he added.
