: Opposition Congress today decided to intensify its stir against police for arresting Youth congress activists who were holding a 'peaceful demonstration' at the BJP office here recently against objectionable remarks of Union minister Giriraj Singh against Sonia Gandhi.
AICC General Secretary and former Union Minister V Narayanasamy said volunteers of Congress and its various outfits would lay siege to the IGP's office soon to protest against 'foisting' of cases against the functionaries and getting them remanded to custody.
On Apr 3 the BJP office was attacked allegedly by Youth Congress activists protesting against Giriraj Singh's remarks. The name board and glass windows of the office were damaged. Some BJP workers inside the building escaped unhurt.
The Youth Congress activists allegedly also hurled tomatoes, eggs and stones at the office, police said.
Singh had a fews days back wondered if Congress would have accepted Sonia Gandhi's leadership if she was not white-skinned.
Narayanasamy alleged that Youth Congress president Ilayaraja and seven other activists were arrested under various sections of IPC though they were not at all involved in the incident
Stating that political parties have right to hold demonstration to air their protest, he termed as 'political vendetta' the action against Youth Congress volunteers.
Narayanasamy said the party would also move court to secure the release of the seven activists, now lodged in the Central prison after their arrest.
