Cong to stress on issue of corruption in Meghalaya

The ruling Congress in Meghalaya has prioritised corruption as an issue to be taken head-on during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Chief Minister Mukul Sagma said the party has decided to make corruption its agenda for the general elections.
Sangma was talking to reporters after a closed-door party meeting to review its preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The Chief Minister claimed that a number of legislations including RTI have been taken up by the Congress towards tackling corruption and his government has already passed the Lokayukta Act.
Sangma further informed that to ensure efficient and effective delivery systems his government was coming up with the Social Audit Act which is in the final stage of drafting.
On the law and order front due to militancy related problem, the Chief Minister said that his government has been committed to deal with the law and order situation and ensure that the future of the state will be free from unpleasant situation.
He, meanwhile, claimed that the Congress, apart from winning both the seats in the state, would win ten seats in Assam, two each in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh and one in Manipur.
