Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu today said Congress and UPA Government were responsible for the unprecedented pandemonium in the Lok Sabha over the Telangana bill two days ago.
Addressing a press conference here, Naidu alleged that while his party was committed to the formation of Telangana, Congress never was.
"It is not right on the part of Congress to blame BJP when the Congress itself failed to control its MPs and ministers who created trouble in the house....What happened in the house is a national shame," he said, demanding strict action against those who disrupted the proceedings.
Questioning the haste with which the bill was brought in, the BJP leader pointed out that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were not present when the bill was "allegedly introduced".
Naidu expressed confidence that BJP would form the government after the next elections. "Modi factor is gaining momentum. People want Modi to lead the country for the benefit of the people," he said.
BJP would secure more than 300 seats in Lok Sabha while Congress would be reduced to a double-digit tally, he said.
