Cong upholds values imbibed during freedom struggle: Khatri
Press Trust of India Lucknow Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Nirmal Khatri today said his party would continuously work for upholding the values it had imbibed during the freedom struggle.
Participating at a seminar -- Pt Nehru's contribution in Indian politics -- at the party headquarters here, he said, "Congress would continuously work for upholding the values imbibed by it during the freedom struggle."
He said the party has always stood for its policies and values.
Justice (retd) Syed Haider Abbas Raza, who was the chief guest at the seminar, charged that some communal forces were trying to tarnish the image of the first Prime Minister of the country by unnecessarily seeking faults on the issues of China and Kashmir.
"It is the result of Pt Nehru's contribution in freedom struggle, vision and scientific outlook that the country is today marching ahead in all fields," he said, adding that there is a danger hovering over the values established by Nehru in the guidance of Gandhiji and all Congressmen should protect them with full strength.
