BJP today attacked the Congress saying after its successive "humiliating defeats" in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the party is going to be wiped out in the coming Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh (LAHDC) elections.
"After its humiliating defeat in Lok Sabha and later in Assembly elections in J&K, the Congress is going to be wiped out from Ladakh region after the poll results of LAHDC," BJP National Vice-President and Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna said while addressing an election rally in Leh.
Khanna alleged that the Congress, which ruled the country for maximum period after independence, worked to "promote" a family and did nothing for the common masses. It only gave slogans of ending poverty and unemployment and misled the weaker sections and people living in far flung remote areas for vote bank politics.
"Still there is no proper road and communication connectivity, the plight of the women, STs and working class is miserable and it is the result of the anti-people, anti-poor policies of the Congress," said Khanna.
He asserted that the people have now found a reliable option in the form of BJP and hence are voting for it in every elections after 2014 Lok Sabha.
Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said that the policies of Congress towards Ladakh region had always been "discriminatory" and it remained "undeveloped and backward" in all matters.
"The people of Ladakh always displayed faith and supported Congress but unfortunately the region remained ditched," Singh said further adding that BJP has always stood for the cause of Ladakh and is committed for its development and welfare of the people.
He said that the BJP-led NDA government has been paying special attention to this cold region and a number of projects have been launched for better means of communication and all weather road connectivity. The coalition government in the state is also following the line and working towards overall development of Ladakh, he said.
MoS Education Priya Sethi also appealed the womenfolk to vote and support BJP candidates.
