"We demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi dismiss Giriraj Singh forthwith from the council of ministers and publicly apologise to the nation for the derogatory remarks made by the union minister," Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan told reporters here.
Stating that OPCC deplores and condemns the remarks of Singh on Sonia Gandhi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, he said, Modi has rewarded such a man with a ministerial berth.
Harichandan said Congress workers staged demonstration across the state protesting against Singh's "objectionable" and "racist" remarks and demanding his ouster from the union ministry.
Stating that women were increasingly feeling insecure and unsafe during the BJP-led NDA government, the PCC chief said it was a matter of serious concern that the prime minister is unable to control and rein in union ministers and MPs who are indulging in anti-women and divisive activities.
"While someone advises women to give birth to 14 children, another asks people opposed to Modi and BJP to go to Pakistan," he said.
